Some 22 kilometres to the south of Bangalore is the Nammergjatta
National Park, which was established way back in 1971. The Park
is a delightful 104 square kilometers of deciduous forest with
an occasional tiger, leopards, elephants and wild boar, among
other animals. A quaint and pretty hill station 60 kilometres
north of Bangalore, Nandi Hills was a popular summer retreat
for Tipu Sultan. |

At 1479 metres above sea level are the Nandi Hills, a charming
maze of greenery & a breathtaking view, specially from Tipu's
Drop which is a 600 metre high cliff. There are a number of
places around Bangalore which are within a radius of 200 kilometres
and are distinctive, beautiful and worth visiting.

Lying 130 kms from Bangalore. Mysore is said to have derived
its name from this the demon-king, Mahishasura, who once lived
here and was vanquished by Goddess Chamundi. It is a city of
palaces, gardens, and sacred temples. The glory of silk and
sandalwood can be felt in the air of Mysore with a great deal

Picturesque place located in the sylvan Northern High Ranges

Bastion
Bungalow: Built in the Indo-European style way
back in 1667, the Bungalow gets its name from its location on
the site of the Stromberg Bastion of the old Dutch fort.
The Dutch Cemetery:
The tomb stones here are the most authentic record of the hundreds
of Europeans who left their homeland on a mission to expand
their colonial empires and changed the course of history of
this land. |

Palace): Built by the Portuguese in 1557 and
presented to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Kochi, the Palace
was renovated in 1663 by the Dutch.
Synagogue: Constructed
in 1568, this is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth.
Willingdon Island: This
Island is Named after Lord Willingdon, a former British Viceroy
of India, this man-made island is surrounded by beautiful
backwaters |
